Jyenny Babcock, Ed.D.
I’m on a mission to increase the doctoral degree graduation rate by helping EdD/PhD students stop struggling with emotions and instead feel in control, in the face of all their responsibilities, obligations, and ambitions, because I believe that we all deserve equanimity while we stretch ourselves to reach our highest potential.
Before I became a professional life coach, I served as a leader in higher education for 15 years, conducting institutional research and supporting student learning and institutional effectiveness at large public universities. I earned a Leadership EdD with a focus on health and wellness in 2020.
I felt my research background had prepared me well to enter a doctoral program. Despite earning straight A’s and never turning in a late assignment my perfectionism and survival thinking caused me to struggle unexpectedly and I was in constant emotional overwhelm… until I found coaching.
The tools I learned through self-coaching transformed my doctoral experience, taking me from being a stressed-out student to overcoming all my challenges and leading my dissertation process with calm, courage, and self-confidence.
I became a professionally certified life coach in 2021 so I could help other doctoral students achieve the peace of mind and life balance that I found on my path to graduation.
